Boat holiday: how to plan one in Göcek and Fethiye
Unlike a hotel, a boat holiday means waking in a different bay each day, close to the sea. Göcek and Fethiye, with many sheltered bays over short distances, are the easiest places to start. Below we walk through who it suits, how many days to plan, how to build the budget and what to pack.
Right now there are 24 boats in this selection, from 1,000 EUR / day; for up to 4-14 guests.

Who is a boat holiday for?
Families, groups of friends, couples and large celebrations. Those wanting space and comfort choose a gulet/catamaran, sport lovers a sailing yacht, and those after speed and day escapes a motor yacht. For families with children, a catamaran's stability is comfortable. If you're unsure which type fits, browse the type pages below or tell us about your group and we'll recommend.
How is it different from a hotel holiday?
In a hotel the view is fixed; on a boat it changes every morning. Instead of a crowded beach, a cove where only your boat lies at anchor; instead of a buffet, food cooked for you on deck. The schedule is yours too: sleeping in, swimming until noon or moving to the next bay depends on that day's mood. In return, space is tighter than a hotel room and comfort varies by boat class - which is why choosing the right boat matters.
How many days: a weekend or a full week?
Göcek's advantage is many coves within short distances: even a 2-3 day escape fills up nicely around the 12 Islands. A full week (7 days/6 nights) is the classic boat holiday and allows a wider route taking in Fethiye Bay and the Ölüdeniz side. For first-timers we suggest a 3-4 night programme first, then a full week.
Budget: what does a boat holiday cost?
Three things set the price: boat type/size, season and duration. Boats on this list start from 1,000 EUR; in June and September the same boat is noticeably better value than in July-August. Per-person cost drops with a bigger group: on a gulet for 10-12 guests, the per-person nightly cost often stays below a good hotel room. We state clearly in the quote whether fuel, harbour fees and food are included.
Packing: what goes in the bag?
Take a soft bag rather than a hard suitcase (it fits cabin storage). Swimwear, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, a light cardigan for the evening breeze, water shoes and personal medication are enough. Towels and bed linen are ready on board. White-soled shoes are ideal for the deck; heels stay ashore.
What to watch for
Season (May-June and September are the most balanced), included/excluded items (fuel, harbour, food are usually extra), cabin layout and the booking deadline. In high season, booking early improves both boat choice and price. When comparing offers, ask about the berth layout rather than the cabin count: the same 4 cabins can suit a family of 8 yet feel tight for 8 adult friends.
How to get to Göcek and Fethiye
The nearest airport is Dalaman; it is about 25-35 minutes to Göcek and 45-50 to Fethiye by road. Transfers can be arranged; we plan flight and boarding times together.
Popular routes and coves
The 12 Islands, Yassıca Islands, Bedri Rahmi Bay, Tersane Island, Boynuzbükü and Sarsala are favourite stops. Fethiye Bay and the Ölüdeniz area are reached in short hops. We suggest a route by group, duration and weather.
When is the best season?
The season runs May to October. June and September are calmer and better value; July-August are the hottest and busiest. Booking early secures a better boat and price.
Frequently asked questions
+ - Is a boat holiday expensive?
Price varies by type, season and length; per-person cost drops with a larger group. See current starting prices in the calendar on the list pages.
+ - Do I need a licence for a boat holiday?
Not for a crewed charter; bareboat requires a valid certificate.
+ - Will I get seasick?
The Göcek and Fethiye gulfs are sheltered; passages are short and the sea mostly calm. If you're sensitive, we plan a route with morning passages and can suggest medication.
+ - Is there internet and power on board?
Most boats have Wi-Fi and 220V sockets; generator/inverter hours vary by boat. Planning a workation? Tell us and we'll suggest boats with strong, steady connectivity.
+ - Can I bring a pet?
It depends on the boat; some owners accept pets. Check the rules section on the boat detail pages or just ask us.
+ - Which month is best?
June and September - the best balance of temperature, sea and price. July-August is hottest and busiest; May and October are cooler but quiet and better value.
+ - Where do I start?
Send your dates and group size; we'll suggest 2-3 suitable boats and a clear price. We choose the Göcek or Fethiye departure with you.
