Kumlubük Bay: Marmaris's Quiet Sandy Crescent Below Ancient Amos

Fifteen winding minutes past Turunç, the road drops to a wide crescent of sand that most Marmaris holidaymakers never reach: Kumlubük. The name translates, plainly, as 'sandy cove' — and it delivers, with a long beach, calm water and the ruins of ancient Amos watching from the hillside above.
Where is Kumlubük?
South of Turunç, in the Marmaris district of Muğla — about half an hour by road from Marmaris town. Despite facing the outer gulf, the bay's geometry keeps its water calm on most days, which is why yachts like anchoring here as much as bathers like the sand.
Getting there
By road, take the Turunç turn off the Marmaris–İçmeler road and carry on through the village; the signs lead down to the bay. In summer, a minibus to Turunç plus a short local hop covers it without a car. By sea, Kumlubük is a favoured stop of Marmaris day tours and of blue cruise boats working the southern shore — the anchorage is roomy and easy.
Ancient Amos
On the headland above the bay stand the remains of Amos: walls, a temple base and a small theatre facing the sea. The path up from the Turunç side takes under an hour round-trip and rewards you with one of the gulf's best views. Hopping ashore for Amos is the classic mid-swim ritual of a Kumlubük day.
By boat: the Marmaris run
From the water, Kumlubük strings together naturally with Turunç, Çiftlik and Gerbekse coves, and pushing on toward Hisarönü brings Kızkumu and Selimiye into range. These are Marmaris waters, beyond our own Göcek–Fethiye home patch; for that coastline the independent operator Göcek Yachting covers yacht charter across the Turkish coast.
Tips
The beach operations rent sunbeds and serve lunch; for quiet, walk toward the ends of the crescent. Do the Amos climb in the morning cool with proper shoes and water. The sea deepens quickly beyond the entry, so families with small children should stay along the shoreline strip. And leave the bay as silent as you found it — that's its whole charm.
