Gocek History

Gocek Rock Tombs
Gocek Rock Tombs

Göcek is one of the ancient Lycian settlements located between Fethiye and Kaunos. Unfortunately, only a few remains are left of the ancient Kalimche. Göcek still keeps its secrets, as the history writers do not explain the region's assets and history in detail. Rock tombs, monuments and baths samples can be found in the bays and along the Fethiye highway. In addition, there are ruins of both ancient and recent history on Tersane Island. When the geographical situation is examined, it can be thought that the legends of Daidalos and Ikarus are correct for Göcek.

On the Kapıdağ peninsula, which can be reached by boat, there are places of the ancient cities of Krya, Lisai and Lydai. Boat trips are made to these places regularly. Although the area has not been fully excavated, several objects have been removed from these settlements recently.
