Boat refit and renewal: we pull scattered jobs into one project

A refit isn't the sum of separate jobs; it's a project with an order, a budget and quality control. Instead of five separate negotiations with five separate craftsmen, the Care team becomes your single point of contact: we agree the scope with you, put the jobs in the right order (the hull dries first, then it's painted), tie every line to a written budget and pass every stage through independent quality control. The final cost cannot exceed the approved amount.

A refit is planned as a whole, not item by item; get the order wrong and finished work gets undone by the next job.

Sample refit: 15 m motor yacht - three jobs, one schedule

Hull paint, a lithium power conversion and interior upholstery were combined in a single project; because the jobs ran in the right order, a second haul-out and repeated work were avoided. (Real case photos will be added when published.)

FAQ

When does a refit make sense, and when is replacing a part enough?+

The decision looks at the sum of the jobs, not a single one: if there are three or four big jobs waiting on each other, combining them in one project both avoids repeated haul-out and labour and sets the right order. For a single job you don't need a refit - that job's own quote is enough. We'll tell you which suits you, with reasons, at the survey visit.

How is a refit budget worked out?+

Scope determines it: a job breakdown is drawn up, every line is priced separately and put in order of priority. The budget can be split across phases - technical this year, cosmetic next, for example. The final cost cannot exceed the approved amount; if a need arises outside the scope, work stops and your fresh approval is requested.

Why does the order of the jobs matter?+

The wrong order burns money: painting a hull that should be dry too early, or doing the upholstery before the electrical work, means having the job done twice. The real value of a project plan lies in this sequencing.

How long does it take, and how long is the boat out of use?+

It depends on the scope; the plan is written up front and the delivery target counts down in your panel. With a phased refit you can keep using your boat between seasons - we spread the works across the winter months.

Do different specialists do the different jobs?+

Yes, and that's a strength: each job is done by its own specialist (paint, electrics, joinery). The difference is that we run them all under one project management, one schedule and one quality standard - the coordination burden sits with us, not you.
