What Is a Hydraulic Stern Platform?

A submerging, load-bearing stern platform — tender ramp, beach mode and step-free access to the sea all in one.

Hidrolik Kıç Platform Nedir? - GöcekOnline Care

A hydraulic stern platform (submerging platform) is a platform mounted on hydraulic arms at the transom, able to lower into the water and take a load. It does three jobs at once: launching and recovering a tender or jetski without a trailer, dropping down to sea level for beach mode, and giving older guests or families with children step-free access to the water.

It is one of the most popular comfort features on modern motor yachts, but the engineering reality should not be forgotten: pistons, hinges and hoses that go into the water are living in seawater all the time.

Maintenance and safety

  • Piston chrome: A chafe mark from a fender or line can cut through the chrome and damage the seal; during lay-up, the pistons should be left fully retracted and protected.

  • Hinge anodes: the platform is part of the vessel’s cathodic protection system.

  • Beach mode safety: while the platform is lowering into the water, the engines must not be running; swimmers and propellers should never be in the same sentence.

Load limits matter: the platform capacity must be calculated with the tender, engine and any water inside it included. Seasonal routine: piston surfaces, hinge anodes, hydraulic oil level and limit switch testing.
