Engine and generator: hour-based servicing, logged service history
Most engine failures aren't sudden; they're the build-up of skipped maintenance. At Care your engine and generator hours are logged to your panel: as the service time approaches by the manufacturer's criteria the system reminds you, and every service done is written into the history with the part numbers used. Your engine's story is now documented.

Scope
Scheduled servicing
Oil and filter changes, impeller, belts, anode checks - by hour/calendar criteria
Fault diagnosis
Overheating, smoke, power loss, starting problems - by measurement and test in order
Brand service coordination
Volvo Penta, Yanmar, Mercruiser: for warranty work the authorised-service process runs through us
Generator servicing
Onan, Kohler, Fischer Panda scheduled servicing and fault work
Shaft & propeller
Shaft seal replacement, propeller balancing and damage repair, engine mounts
Fuel system
Tank cleaning, fuel polishing, injector and supply-line maintenance
Specialist pages

Hours and condition record
Engine/generator hours and current readings are logged to the panel; the service schedule is set up.
Plan and quote
The maintenance coming up by the manufacturer's criteria becomes a written quote with part numbers.
Documented service
The make/part number of the oil and filters used is recorded; handed over with a function test.

When is the engine's next service?
Whichever fills first, the hour or the schedule criterion, is when service is due. Enter the values, see the status. The exact interval is confirmed against the engine's manufacturer manual.
Service approaching
Next service: after 20 engine hours or 4 months (whichever comes first)
Binding criterion: engine hours
Scheduled service items
- ✓Engine oil + oil filter
- ✓Fuel filter (pre + engine)
- ✓Impeller (raw water pump)
- ✓Anode check
- ✓Belt tension
- ✓Coolant / antifreeze
- ✓Shaft seal and grease
The interval varies by engine; with a recorded service history, service day never comes as a surprise.

| Smoke colour | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| White | Cold running / water vapour, water leak past a gasket | If it doesn't clear once warm, measure |
| Black | Too much fuel, too little air or overloading | Filter, injector and load check |
| Blue | Engine burning oil | Compression / piston-ring measurement |

Sample job: twin-engine season service (2x Cummins, 1,240 hours)
Oil, filters and impellers replaced; all part numbers and test readings logged to the file. (Real case photos will be added at launch.)
FAQ
How is the service interval determined?+
By whichever of the manufacturer's hour and calendar criteria comes first (e.g. 100 hours or once a year). Your engine hours are logged in the panel; as the time approaches the system reminds you - the burden of remembering isn't on you.
On my in-warranty engine, do you work on it or the authorised service?+
For warranty work we coordinate the authorised service: the appointment, attendance and record are ours; the warranty stays intact. Routine work outside the warranty is done by our own team to our evidence standard - you see clearly in the quote which is which.
Why is the impeller so important?+
It's the heart of the raw-water pump and it's rubber: it dries out, cracks, sheds its vanes. If a broken vane escapes into the cooling channels, a small part turns into a major overheating fault. An annual change is the engine's cheapest insurance.
What should be done for the engine in winter?+
Winter servicing is essential: an oil change (it isn't laid up over winter on acidic old oil), protecting the cooling line, and filling and conditioning the fuel tank. It's a standard step of the wintering programme.
What does the colour of the exhaust smoke tell you?+
White, black and blue smoke each point to a different system - the detail is in our diagnosis guide. What matters is this: when a change in colour appears, early measurement most often prevents the rebuild bill.
Old engine: rebuild or replace?+
It's decided by compression and value measurements; not an emotional or a salesman's answer - the numbers speak. You see the cost of both scenarios side by side and make the decision with the facts.
