Wintering ashore: maintenance on dry ground and a safe wait
Wintering ashore means lifting the boat out of the water and preparing her for winter in the yard - and it's the one right window for paint, osmosis, hull and underwater work. But wintering ashore isn't 'haul her out and leave her': it needs a proper boat-stand layout, a breathable cover, a lay-up service and regular visual checks. The Care team runs wintering ashore as a programme; your boat is set up properly in October, checked through the winter, and launches tested in April.

Ashore or afloat?+
If you're planning paint, osmosis, hull or underwater work, ashore; a sound, well-used boat winters more economically afloat. At the introductory check you see the cost of both options side by side - the call is made to suit the boat.
Is the boat safe ashore?+
With the right boat-stand layout, a balanced load and a breathable cover, yes. Placing the stands to suit the structure, and regular checks, are the key to it - both are part of the programme.
Does mould form under the cover over winter?+
Under the wrong (non-breathable) cover, yes. The right fabric and ventilation prevent damp damage; interior damp and odour checks are done on the regular round too.
Is the haul-out fee included?+
No; the standing and haul-out-and-launch fee belongs to the yard and appears as a separate line in the quote. The Care programme fee (checks, lay-up service, reporting) is separate.
Why should I have winter works done ashore?+
Because underwater work can only be done ashore and the winter calendar is free: the works are completed without the pressure of the season, with time left for quality control, and the boat launches ready for it.
