What Is a Blue Card?

An electronic card recording a boat’s waste disposal history - the administrative tool that helps protect Göcek’s waters and the first thing checked in inspections.

Mavi Kart Nedir? - GöcekOnline Care

The Blue Card is the waste-tracking system used along the Muğla coast, including Göcek: the amounts of sewage and waste handed in at waste reception stations are logged electronically on a card issued in the boat’s name. The aim is to keep a record showing that waste is being delivered to the stations, not discharged into the sea.

Göcek coves are a specially protected environmental area, and this system is part of the administrative framework behind the enjoyment of swimming here. During inspections, boats are expected to have a Blue Card and reasonably regular waste-disposal records; a boat with no record, or one that appears to have 'not delivered any waste for months', may face enforcement action.

Practical routine

  • Use it with a record: make waste disposal and card swiping part of every marina return.

  • Be consistent: make sure the gaps between records match how you use the boat (tank capacity plus days at sea gives a rough guide to how much waste should be handed in).

  • Season start: check the card and records are up to date at the start of the season, not when the first inspection happens.

This system is in everyone’s interest when boating in Göcek: proper use of the card helps avoid fines and supports the clarity of the coves where we swim. Scope and procedures may change; always confirm the current process with the stations or the relevant authority.
